We are a gluten-free, dairy free family.  It started in 2008.  My wife was looking to live healthier and her extended family was doing tests and her Uncle came up with Celiac Disease.  Jen decided to have her self tested.  In doing so she found many food allergies but a high intolerance to gluten and dairy led us to the place we are now.  It has been a “long” journey.  I drug my feet at first.  I was angry, our food bill doubled, tripled in some areas, ($5.00 for a loaf of bread and it tasted like cardboard!) I couldn’t eat real cheese, (I am Canadian so it is an even bigger deal) and no ice cream!  But now I am a FIRM believer!  I feel so much better, have more energy and lost weight.  We have discovered delicious GF DF food along the way (including bread) and wanted to start this blog to help people along their journey as well.  I will put my personal “testimony” in an actual post but I am grateful for my wives persistence on having a healthier family.  I have learned so much along the way and still am learning.  Welcome to the journey!

  1. Hi, all. I love the reference to Holly Street, as I’m familiar with B’ham. And salmon. And summer! Heavenly there. Anyway, back to beer. Hope to try! Don’t drink a lot of it, as I’m a lightweight and won’t drink and drive (and whenever I’m out, I’m driving). Anyway, nice to connect w/another gluten free website owner.
I like your website; my friend Mike told me about it; he has a great sailing site.
So, what is your fave GF dark beer? And fave beer overall? Isn’t most beer 3%? Wine is 6%-8%, right?
